Check Basic Requirements
- Ensure that Bluetooth is turned on in your iPhone settings. The Apple Watch relies on Bluetooth for initial pairing.
- Verify that your iPhone has Wi-Fi or cellular data turned on.
- Make sure your Apple Watch and iPhone are close to each other; proximity is essential for pairing.
Restart Both Devices
- Turn off your Apple Watch by pressing and holding the side button until you see the power off slider. Slide it to power off, and then press and hold the side button again to turn it back on.
- Restart your iPhone by holding the power button (and volume button on some models) until you see the "slide to power off" slider. Slide it, then hold the power button again to turn it back on.
Update Software
- Ensure that both your iPhone and Apple Watch are running the latest software. On the iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software Update. For the Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone and go to General > Software Update.
- Updating your devices can fix bugs or issues that might prevent pairing.
Reset Network Settings on iPhone
- On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This step will reset network settings, including Bluetooth, which might resolve the issue.
- Note that resetting network settings will remove saved Wi-Fi networks and their passwords.
Unpair and Pair Again
- If your Apple Watch is still not pairing, open the Watch app on your iPhone. Tap on your watch, then the info button, and select "Unpair Apple Watch."
- After unpairing, attempt to pair your Apple Watch again by following the on-screen instructions.
Check for iPhone and Apple Watch Compatibility
- Some versions of the Apple Watch require specific iPhone models or iOS versions. Ensure that your devices are compatible with one another.
