Identify the Issue
- Check if the belt is slipping when you walk or run on your Peloton Tread. A slipping belt may feel like it's stuttering or not moving smoothly under your feet.
- Inspect the belt visually to see if it shifts to one side or doesn't track correctly in the center.
Preparation and Safety
- Turn off the Peloton Tread and unplug it from the power outlet to ensure safety before attempting any adjustments.
- Make sure no loose clothing or objects are near the treadmill that could entangle in the belt or the adjustment mechanism.
Check Belt Tension
- Locate the tension adjustment bolts at the back of the treadmill. These are usually hexagonal in shape and can be adjusted with an Allen wrench.
- Tighten the belt by turning the bolts a quarter turn clockwise. It's important to adjust both sides evenly to maintain the belt's alignment.
- After adjusting, plug the treadmill back in and test it at a slow speed to check the alignment and tension.
Center the Belt
- If the belt is not centered, adjust the bolt on the slipping side. Turn the bolt clockwise to shift the belt towards that side or counterclockwise to move it away.
- Keep adjusting in small increments and testing at a low speed to ensure the belt centers properly without slipping.
Lubricate the Belt
- Unplug the treadmill. Lift the belt slightly and apply a silicone-based lubricant, specifically designed for treadmill belts, to the deck underneath.
- Spread the lubricant evenly by running the treadmill at a slow speed for a few minutes. This lubrication helps reduce friction, which can cause slipping.
Final Safety Check
- After making adjustments and lubrication, test the treadmill thoroughly at various speeds to ensure the slipping issue is resolved.
- Watch for any unusual noises or belt movements, as these might indicate further adjustments are needed.
- Ensure the belt runs smoothly and stays centered during use for your safety and the longevity of the machine.
