Formatting an SD Card on Nextbase
- Firstly, make sure your dashcam is turned off. Remove the SD card from the device if it's already inserted.
- Insert the SD card into a compatible SD card reader connected to your computer.
- Once the SD card is connected, locate it in your file explorer. This could be under "This PC" on Windows or on your desktop/finder in macOS.
- Right-click on the SD card icon and select the "Format" option. Make sure to choose either FAT32 or exFAT as the file system, as Nextbase dashcams predominantly support these.
- Click on "Start" for Windows or "Erase" for macOS, then confirm your decision. Beware; formatting will remove all data from the card.
- After formatting, eject the SD card safely and reinsert it into your Nextbase dashcam.
Fixing Formatting Problems
- If the SD card is not recognized by your computer, try another SD card reader or slot if available, as the reader might be faulty.
- Ensure that the SD card is not locked. There's a small switch on the side of the card, make sure it's in the 'unlock' position.
- If you cannot format the card on your computer, try formatting it directly through the Nextbase dashcam's settings menu. Refer to the device's manual for specific instructions on how to access and use the format feature on the dashcam.
- In some cases, using a card with a different brand that's known for reliability in dashcams (like SanDisk or Samsung) might solve compatibility issues.
- If you've followed all steps and still face issues, consider that the SD card might be corrupted. Testing with a different card can determine if the issue lies with the card itself.
