How to reduce false alerts on Ring Doorbell

Adjust Motion Sensitivity

• Open the Ring app on your smartphone and navigate to the settings for your Ring Doorbell.

 

• Select "Motion Settings" and then "Motion Sensitivity".

 

• Move the slider to adjust the sensitivity. Decreasing the sensitivity can help reduce unnecessary alerts triggered by minor movements, such as a passing car or tree branches swaying in the wind.

Customize Motion Zones

• In the Ring app, go to "Motion Settings" and select "Motion Zones".

 

• Configure the motion detection areas by adjusting the zones. Exclude areas where there’s frequent movement that you don’t want alerts for, like a busy street or sidewalk.

• Set up "Motion Schedules" within the app to dictate when you receive alerts.

 

• Create a schedule to prevent alerts during times when they are unnecessary, such as when you are home and expect a lot of movement around your door.

Regularly Update Firmware

• Ensure your Ring Doorbell is running the latest firmware. Updates can improve device performance and reduce false alerts by refining motion detection algorithms.

 

• Check for updates through the device settings in the Ring app and install any available updates promptly.

Check and Clean the Device

• Periodically check your doorbell’s camera for obstructions or dirt that might affect its sensor capabilities.
