Check the Battery and Connections
- Ensure the battery is fully charged. A low or dead battery can prevent the pedal assist system from working.
- Check all connections between the battery and the bike. Loose or disconnected wires can interrupt power flow.
- Inspect for any visible damage to the wires. Damaged wires might need replacing.
Inspect the Pedal Assist Sensor
- Locate the pedal assist sensor which is usually near the crankset. Ensure it’s clean and free of dirt and debris that might block its signal.
- Verify that the sensor is properly aligned with the magnet disc. Even a slight misalignment can cause issues.
- If applicable, check that the magnet disc is intact and positioned correctly. Missing or dislodged magnets will disrupt the assist.
Test the Display and Settings
- Make sure the display is functioning correctly. If the display is blank or shows error codes, refer to the user manual for troubleshooting specific codes.
- Confirm that the pedal assist setting is activated and at the correct level. It should not be set to zero if you want assistance.
- If possible, reset the display settings to factory defaults to clear any incorrect configurations.
Check the Motor Connection
- Inspect the wires and connections going to the motor. Any loose or corroded connections should be securely reconnected or cleaned.
- Ensure there are no breaks or wear in the motor cable; damaged cables need replacement.
Software Update or Reset
- Check if there is a software update available for your Aventon bike. Sometimes, a software issue may affect pedal assist.
- Perform a system reset if updates don’t resolve the issue. Reset instructions can typically be found in the user manual.
