Omi

Open Vision
Pocket sticks to the back of your phone and records calls from your normal phone app. Omi is worn on your body and captures conversations in person, and on Pro it also records calls you place through the Omi app. If your day is calls from your own number, Pocket fits. If it's meetings, sites, lunches and hallways, Omi hears them without you taking your phone out.
The short version

- Other devices: each brand's published specs, prices and plans, checked November 3, 2026, plus independent hands-on reviews, linked at the bottom of each page. We haven't run our own lab tests on competitor devices, and we don't pretend to.
- What we compare: price and year-one cost, how you wear it, how recording starts, battery, what you get after a conversation, AI and app connections, and privacy.

Design and wear
Omi is a pebble about the width of a fingertip in a frosted white case. It hangs on a wheat chain, or pops into the wrist band; both come in the box. Pocket is a 52 g card (3.4 x 2.2 in) that snaps onto MagSafe phones or sticks on with adhesive.
Winner: Depends: on you (Omi) or on your phone (Pocket)
How recording starts
Omi starts on its own. Pocket starts when you press its side button.
Winner: Omi
Phone calls
Pocket's contact mic records any call from your normal phone app. Omi Pro lets you place calls through the Omi app, and those are transcribed live and summarized when you hang up. For calls from your normal phone app, Omi captures them on speaker.
Winner: Pocket for calls from your normal phone app
In person
Omi is always on you in a meeting, at lunch or walking. A recorder stuck to a phone in your bag misses those conversations.
Winner: Omi
Battery
Pocket lists about 4 days of use. Omi lasts 10 to 14 hours.
Winner: Pocket
AI and app connections
Omi connects to ChatGPT and Claude on every plan, so the assistant you already use knows what was said. Tasks go to Apple Reminders, Google Tasks, Todoist, ClickUp, Asana, Trello or Monday, and Google Calendar and Gmail sync on every plan. Pocket also lists ChatGPT, Claude and MCP, plus calendars, Notion (Pro), Obsidian and task apps.
Winner: Tie
Privacy
Omi is SOC 2 and HIPAA compliant, encrypts data in transit and at rest, and is open source, so anyone can check how it handles your data. Technical users can run it on their own servers. Pocket offers a HIPAA mode with a BAA on its Enterprise plan and hosts data in the US.
Winner: Omi
One ordinary Tuesday: Omi vs Pocket
- 8:40 amA two-minute hallway chat about a deadline. Omi: captured, with the new date as a task. Pocket: only if you pressed record before it started.
- 11:00 amA planned client meeting. Both get it. This is the case button recorders are built for.
- 1:15 pmLunch, where a friend recommends a book. Omi: saved, and you can ask for it next week. Pocket: only if you recorded lunch.
- 6:30 pmAn idea on the drive home. Omi: say it out loud. Pocket: press the button, or reach for your phone while driving.
- 10:00 pm"What did I promise today?" Omi answers from everything it heard. Pocket: from the recordings you started.

- We didn't find a full independent hands-on review of Pocket from a major publication as of November 2026. We'll add one when we do.
Where Omi falls short

- Write-ups happen in the Omi app on your phone. Away from your phone, Omi stores audio and syncs it later (in beta).

- The free plan's 300 minutes a month covers about 10 minutes a day. Wearing it all day means Plus or Pro.
