How safe is my data? 

Your data is designed to stay under your control. 

 

Omi uses enterprise-grade safeguards: it's SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance, encrypts data in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256), and can run locally so you can avoid relying on any cloud (manual setting). 

 

You can also export everything easily whenever you want, and if you decide to leave, you can delete items or wipe your data entirely.

Does it need a phone?

Yes, omi works with all iPhone and Android phone models, also on Mac and Web App for any browser and system.

Can it hear only me or everyone?

Omi is designed to capture what you hear and say, so it can also pick up other voices nearby. 

Always get permission to record others and follow local recording laws.

How technical should I be to use it?

No tech skills needed. Omi is made to be simple.

 

Just charge it, turn it on, and connect it to your phone in the Omi AI app. Hit record, and you’ll get automatic transcripts, summaries, action items, and searchable memories.

Where the conversations are stored?

Conversations can be stored locally on your phone, or on the cloud. Your data is encrypted and everything can be deleted in one click in omi app

What happens when I break or lose the device?

You can still access all your conversations and memories via omi mobile app, until you choose to delete it. 

Does it read my brain?

Omi will be able to read your brain data with a separate brain-interface module. First version of omi is shipped audio-only with a priority-access for brain-module coming in 2026-2027

Do I need a subscription?

You don’t need a subscription to get started.

 

Omi includes an unlimited free plan (on-phone transcription) plus 1,200 free minutes of cloud transcription per month.
