About omi

omi is made by Based Hardware, Inc., a San Francisco company building open-source AI wearables that turn what you hear and see into memory you can search.

What we make

  • omi, the AI pendant. It records your conversations and meetings and turns them into searchable transcripts, summaries, action items and memories. It works with iPhone, Android, Mac and any browser, records offline without a phone, supports 25+ languages, and comes with a free plan (unlimited on-phone transcription plus 300 cloud minutes every month). Order it at omi.me/products/omi.
  • omi Glass Dev Kit, the first always-on camera and audio smart glasses. Full-day camera recording, fully open source, shipping now. See omi.me/products/omi-glass-dev-kit.
  • The omi app for iOS, Android, macOS and the web, plus an app store with thousands of integrations. Download links are at omi.me/pages/download.

Open source

omi's hardware and software are open source. The code lives at github.com/BasedHardware/omi, and developers can build apps, run omi locally, and use the API and MCP server with their own data.

Why we build it

We believe humans and AI are stronger together, and that the bridge between them should be built in the most transparent and safest way possible: open source. omi is the first step, glasses are the second. Read the full manifesto.
