Understand the Issue
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi is turned on by checking the quick settings on your Kindle. Make sure the airplane mode is off.
- Confirm that your Kindle is within the range of your Wi-Fi network. Hold your Kindle near the router to rule out distance issues.
Restart Devices
- Begin by restarting your Kindle. Press and hold the power button for about 40 seconds until it restarts.
- Also, restart your Wi-Fi router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in to help clear temporary network issues.
Check Your Wi-Fi Network
- Ensure your Kindle is attempting to connect to the correct Wi-Fi network. Go to the wireless settings and select your network from the list.
- If your network is password-protected, double-check the password entered on your Kindle. A single incorrect character will prevent a successful connection.
Forget and Reconnect
- In Kindle's settings, navigate to the Wi-Fi section. Select the network your Kindle is struggling to connect to, then choose "Forget."
- After forgetting the network, try reconnecting by selecting it from the list and entering the password again.
Reset the Kindle Network
- This step is more drastic, but you can reset your Kindle's network settings. Go to "Settings" then "Device Options" and choose "Reset" from the options. Note that this may remove saved Wi-Fi passwords and other configurations.
Update Kindle Software
- Ensure your Kindle has the latest software. An outdated system may have bugs affecting connectivity. Go to "Settings," "Device Options," then "Software Updates." Update if a new version is available.
Check for Interference
- Remove or turn off other wireless devices close to your router or Kindle that might interfere with the signal.
- If possible, switch to a different frequency (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) on your router to see if it improves the connection.
Contact Support
- If none of the above steps work, contact Amazon Kindle Support for further assistance. They might guide you through more advanced troubleshooting steps.
- Additionally, consider contacting your internet service provider to ensure there are no broader network issues affecting multiple devices.
